For heavier poles — particularly large metal poles with lined full-length curtains — a heavier duty anchor like a wall bolt or resin anchor may be needed, drilled deeper into the stone. The key is not to anchor into the plaster over the stone (which is what causes poles to pull out), but to get through the plaster and into the masonry itself. John checks the plaster depth and drills accordingly before any bracket goes up.
