The Clocks Go Back on 25 October: Check Your Locks Before the Dark Evenings
The clocks go back on Sunday 25 October 2026. From then on the evenings are dark an hour earlier, and the house sits in the dark for longer each day. It is a sensible week to look at the locks on your doors and windows and ask whether they are still doing their job.
Good reasons to change a lock
- You have moved house
- A set of keys has been lost
- There has been a break-in
- The lock has failed
- You simply want to upgrade
The locks John fits
John fits and replaces most common residential lock types. That covers Yale euro cylinders, including anti-snap, and five-lever mortice deadbolts to BS 3621, the insurance standard. It also covers multi-point lock mechanisms on uPVC and composite doors, and window locks. A door chain or door limiter can be fitted as additional security on any door type.
What John does when he comes out
He gives honest advice on whether you need an upgrade or a like-for-like replacement, and on the right lock for your door and your insurer. He carries the most common lock sizes and types to each job, so most standard lock changes are completed in a single visit. The new lock is tested fully and all keys are checked before he leaves. If the job is urgent, say so when you get in touch.
