Darker Evenings: Time to Get the Curtain Poles and Blinds Fitted Properly
The evenings are drawing in across Ayrshire, and the clocks go back at the end of October. Curtains that sat open all summer are being pulled shut every night again. That is when a pole that sags or a blind with a broken cord starts to get noticed.
Why poles sag and pull away
The most common problem is a plasterboard wall with nothing solid behind it at the right height. Plasterboard will not hold heavy curtains on standard rawlplugs. John checks the wall type first. For lighter poles he uses cavity wall anchors, and for heavier poles he finds the wall studs and fixes into those.
