TV Wall Mounting in Prestwick, Ayrshire

This is the most common problem in Prestwick’s bungalow housing. Studs are typically 400mm or 600mm apart, and the bracket’s mounting holes rarely land exactly on a stud when positioned at the height you want on the wall. John has two solutions: if the studs are close enough to the intended position, he adjusts the bracket position slightly to catch a stud — usually the visual difference is small enough to be irrelevant. Where more flexibility is needed, John fixes a timber batten horizontally between two studs — bolted into both — and then mounts the bracket to the batten. The batten is hidden behind the TV and the bracket can sit exactly where you want it.

Either works. Most customers buy their own bracket — a fixed flat mount for a cinema-style flush look, or a tilting/articulating arm if you want to be able to adjust the angle. John is happy to fit whatever bracket you have as long as it’s rated for your screen size and weight. If you’re not sure which bracket to buy, John can advise based on your TV size, weight and the wall type at the quote stage — or supply a suitable bracket as part of the job. Either way the bracket is confirmed before work starts.

Cable management is included as standard — cables are not left hanging loose after the TV is mounted. The most common approach is surface-mounted cable trunking (also called cable conduit) — a plastic channel that is fixed to the wall and hides the cables inside it. It can be painted to match the wall. Where you want a fully clean wall with no visible trunking, John can route cables inside the wall cavity between two cut points — one behind the TV and one at skirting level — using a wall chase and low-voltage brush plate. This gives a flush, cable-free result but involves more work and John will quote it separately. For most customers, surface trunking gives a neat enough result without the additional cost.
