It’s more of a structural build than a ground-level deck — and this is where JM’s groundworks and structural experience makes a real difference to the quality of the finished result.

Planning & Building Regulations

In Scotland, raised decking above 300mm from ground level may require a building warrant, and platforms above 600mm require handrails by regulation. We’ll advise you clearly during the site visit on what applies to your specific project and garden, and can assist with the necessary documentation if required.

Most domestic raised deck projects fall within Permitted Development Rights and don’t require full planning permission — but it’s always worth checking, and we’ll help you do that.
